  10.        This release note describes Patch SG0002394 to IRIX 6.4.

  19.        This patch contains bug fixes for IRIX 6.4 (version
  20.        1263561140).  The software cannot be installed on other
  21.        configurations.

  25.        Bug numbers from Silicon Graphics bug tracking system are
  26.        included for reference.  The following bugs were fixed for
  27.        Patch SG0002394.

  29.           +o Bug 519923: The hardware inventory tracking only
  30.             allowed for 1000 items, where an item is a processor, a
  31.             disk drive, SCSI controller, network controller, etc.
  32.             (generally there is one line of output from 'hinv' per
  33.             item).  With large configurations possible on O2000,
  34.             this isn't enough to allow tracking all devices.  The
  35.             limit has been raised to 2000 items.

  38.        The following bugs were fixed in Patch SG0002057, which is
  39.        replaced by Patch SG0002394.

  41.           +o Bug 470333: uuid_compare did not work right for one
  42.             error case where one uuid was invalid.  Also, the error
  43.             code values returned were incorrect.

  45.           +o Bug 483173: telldir (and telldir64) returned an
  46.             incorrect value when the immediately preceding
  47.             operation was a seekdir (or seekdir64).

  49.           +o Bug 486271: redundant closes in yp_unbind and
  50.             _yp_unbind_all close random file descriptors in multi-
  51.             threaded applications.

  95.        Because you want to install only the patches for problems
  96.        you have encountered, patch software is not installed by
  97.        default.  After reading the descriptions of the bugs fixed
  98.        in this patch (see Section 1.3), determine the patches that
  99.        meet your specific needs.

  101.        If, after reading Sections 1.1 and 1.2 of these release
  102.        notes, you are unsure whether your hardware and software
  103.        meet the requirements for installing a particular patch, run
  104.        _i_n_s_t.  The _i_n_s_t program does not allow you to install
  105.        patches that are incompatible with your hardware or
  106.        software.

  108.        Patch software is installed like any other Silicon Graphics
  109.        software product.  Follow the instructions in your _S_o_f_t_w_a_r_e
  110.        _I_n_s_t_a_l_l_a_t_i_o_n _A_d_m_i_n_i_s_t_r_a_t_o_r'_s _G_u_i_d_e to bring up the miniroot
  111.        form of the software installation tools.

  113.        Follow these steps to select a patch for installation:

  115.          1.  At the Inst> prompt, type

  159.        To remove a patch, use the _v_e_r_s_i_o_n_s _r_e_m_o_v_e command as you
  160.        would for any other software subsystem.  The removal process
  161.        reinstates the original version of software unless you have
  162.        specifically removed the patch history from your system.
